New Web Host

I’ve found a new web hosting company for saved.net: HostPC. The cost is relatively the same compared to my previous hosting plan with 1and1 (who I still use as the domain’s registrar). The amount of disk space I get with HostPC is less, but it is enough to meet my hosting needs (IMAP and webmail for my email, Gallery for my pictures, and Drupal for this site).
I chose HostPC over 1and1 for the following reasons:
- It is much faster due to their “no overselling” motto
- No more Internal Server Errors for starting a process that lasts longer then about 10 seconds (which is necessary for running Gallery)
- Business transparency and a desire to put their customer’s needs first by their willingness to host a public forum (a good source for support and news)
- I actually have a home directory that is not web accessible (it feels much more like a shell account structure)
